Chal Mera Putt 2, Chal Mera Putt 3 , Qismat 2 and now- Yet another Punjabi film turned out to be a success in the box. While much of the success of the Punjabi comedy should not have been seen yet, it remains to be seen, the fact that its opening was a good part of the war that has been won.
On its opening weekend, the film received about 5 crores in the box office and that’s okay for a regional film with an audience especially in Punjab and parts of Delhi NCR. Theaters will be opened in Maharashtra from 22 October and before that every victory like this should also be celebrated as it shows that at least open state-owned markets are opening up.
The film should exceed 10 crores by the end of the second weekend and there may be a lifetime of 15 crores. One wonders if the film would have gotten the highest scores if there had been some kind of advertising at least because there was no real release announcement, hype or hoopla around the promotion of any individual marketing. The makers primarily rode the franchise’s popularity and while that ensured the kind of opening that came to an end, there would have been a lot more for sure if the push had been better.
